Japanese Tutors

Hello! I am currently a Japanese and Criminal Justice student at UNC Charlotte. I have taken math up to Calculus 2 and I find it to be a fun subject to learn. I have also in the past tutored at UNCC for the subjects of Japanese and Chinese. I hope to teach people that learning languages can be fun and I hope to teach others about the languages I am currently learning. I try to teach the languages through fun and engaging ways so that it is easier to learn and remember along with hopefully making it a little less daunting.

I have had the opportunity to work as an at-home tutor since my senior year of high school all the way to today. I have taught English, math, literature, writing, and any subject that children may need help with for their school homework. During the tutoring sessions, I make my own study guide according to what the parent may desire, or what I see that the student needs reinforcement in. I also have experience working as a teacher assistant at an international school, where I was also able to work within the special education department for children with different learning disabilities. Here, I was able to learn how to cater to the needs of each student and create interactive activities and exercises for fun learning. I believe that a good educator does not only teach academic matters but also strives to be the best example possible by being the first to constantly be learning. Teaching important moral values through positive interaction and creative exercises is also a must!

I am in my junior year of college at Eastern Michigan University. My major is in Japanese Teaching and my minor is in TESOL. I have maintained a 4. 0 GPA in both High School and College, so I feel confident that I can help your child with a variety of subjects within the math, history, English, science, and Japanese. In addition to this, I am incredibly passionate about education and learning. My goal as an educator is to not just teach the material, but critical thinking and reflective skills that can help my students manage workload and testing. I have been tutoring for over 5 years in a variety of subjects! I have taught piano, SAT/ACT prep, and elementary school reading, math, and English consistently, as well as many other subjects on and off. I love math and science! I can tutor for any math subject Calculus 2 or below, and I can tutor any k-12 science class. I am also proficient in Mandarin Chinese, and I know basic Japanese and Spanish. I can also tutor basic to intermediate music theory, and I play piano and upright bass and can give lessons in either.

I have been certified by the ethics board while in college so I am able to perform research and teach certain psychology and science courses. I have played tennis, basketball and football for over 6 years and I am fluent in Japanese. I have worked as a personal assistant for 2 years so I also have microsoft certifications and experience with money and cooking. I have babysat in the past as well as I take care and look after my other 4 siblings on a daily basis. I studied medical at SUNY Downstate before continuing on for my psychology degree so I am also trained in basic medical such as CPR. I am very determined and motivated, as well as I can adapt to any fast-paced environment.

I'm a recent MA graduate with about 5 years of experience teaching students at a variety of levels, from elementary to university. I've taught general education (math, science, language arts, etc.) at the elementary level, but my passion is in language education. I've taught English as a Second/Foreign Language and Japanese as a Foreign Language, but I'm willing to expand to other languages. I'm a quick learner and able to adapt to various circumstances and subjects. I'm extremely dedicated to student growth and adept at creating innovative lesson plans to enhance every step of the learning journey.

I have been a go to for friends and other students for help in many subjects, as well as having experience with younger children. With my Psychology background, I have high levels of patience, and I especially want to see those I tutor to succeed and fully understand the information I am presenting. I am most accomplished in English related subjects, but I am more than willing to do outside learning myself to become a more well rounded tutor if the student is struggling in multiple areas. Hi! My name is Heather. Nice to meet you! I have a degree in Elementary Education from Tulsa University. I have been teaching students from age 2 to elementary age for 8 years now. I have taught in Los Angeles, Tokyo, Japan, and now I am back home in Tulsa. I am very happy to have had the chance to work with many students from different places. I like teaching because I get to watch students succeed and grow. As a teacher, I feel my greatest strength is making learning fun and relevant. It is my goal to instill lifelong learning in all students. I do this by creating positive learning experiences. When students associate learning with positivity and success, they will want to keep learning In addition to teaching, I also worked as a nanny for 2 boys aged 2 and 3 months.
