Homeschool Teachers

I homeschooled my daughters for 24 years and consider those years the best years of my life. I taught K-3rd grade at TEACH homeschool co-op for 10 years. Also, I've worked as a reading tutor at Holsten Elementary School for 1st-2nd grade. Over the years, I have been employed as a teacher's aide, substitute teacher, tutor, and a mentor for college students. My heart and passion has always been about the children. I'm interested in starting a homeschool for K-2nd grade in my home 4 or 5 days a week. The curriculum I use is Christian based and character building; A-Beka and Bob Jones are the curriculums used in the Christian schools in the area, such as Providence Academy and Tri-Cities Christian School. I have used both curricula with my own children, as well as other families with great success. My method of teaching is hands-on and nature based, similar to the Montessori method of education; I strive to connect with each child and do my best to help them excel and thrive.

I believe that the best teachers are truly passionate about learning and about people. I understand that people learn in different ways and am always amazed to see children who are struggling in a specific area really thrive when materials are explained in whichever learning style fits them best.

A personal learning experience creates a unique environment where kids not only want to learn more, but they have a desire to learn on their own outside of the classroom. My goal is to give children the power of knowledge & the personal confidence in themselves to overcome all the unknowns in the world around them. I am a retired State Certified Family Day Care home provider, Head start /Preschool teacher of 25 yrs/ Homeschool teacher . I'm 4 classes from graduating with a BA in Early Childhood Education. I have an AA degree in ECE, a CDA, and trainings in childcare. I am MAT, CPR/ First AID certified. I am available to tutor K-3rd grades in Reading & Phonics. I offer a fun , nurturing educational experience which is age appropriate & educationally structured.
